Brief
A four-generation family villa in Khandagiri — Bhubaneswar’s premium bungalow belt. The brief combined two seemingly contradictory requirements: contemporary luxury finishes for the younger generation’s taste and traditional Odia craft elements for the grandparents. AK Interiors made both work.
Ground Floor
The open-plan living and dining area at 650 sq ft is the home’s social heart. A stunning 16ft feature wall in vertical walnut veneer slats runs the full height of the room, housing the TV, display niches, and a fireplace concept niche.
The dining area connects to a professional-grade kitchen designed for daily large-family cooking: U-shape layout with dedicated baking zone, grain storage pullout carousel (100kg capacity), double sink, and a separate utility kitchen for bulk preparation.
Master Suite
A 280 sq ft master bedroom with a dedicated 100 sq ft dressing room. The his-and-hers wardrobe system is in Dark Walnut veneer — perhaps the most photographed element of this project.
Puja Room
The traditional Puja room was designed with deep sensitivity to Odia aesthetic traditions. CNC-carved teak jaali panels on all three walls, brass-inlay flooring, and a custom marble deity platform. The gold and teak palette creates an atmosphere of genuine reverence.
Result
A landmark home that served as the family’s 35th anniversary celebration venue. The project was completed within the 90-day promise despite the complexity of coordinating 6 concurrent zones of execution.
